Swagbucks – This site is a microtask program with a variety of ways to earn. And at first, I loved them. They even gave me points on my birthday. Then when I was ready to cash out, they “locked” me out of my account! They did it for no reason, with no explanation. I was angry! Then I researched them online. And other people said the same thing happened to them. In fact, one woman said they screwed her over on a BIG payout. She worked long and hard and was about ready to cash out. Then they locked her out of her account. And I think I know why they get away with this BS. It’s done gradually. They know that a slow screw won’t be noticed as much. And that involves screwing a few people over from time to time. Plus, they know that screwing over a bunch of people at one time will get them “busted.” It’s a no-brainer. Yet, there are still clueless people who will recommend them. I suppose that’s why Swagbucks continues to survive. It makes them something like a cockroach, something that’s hard to get rid of.
Pacific Trade Partners – This supposed investment site is nothing but a classic “Ponzi” scheme. To cash out, they require you to put more money into it. So, I got out and reported them to the authorities. Hopefully, these SOB$ no longer exist! And recently, I did some research. It seems that they no longer exist. But don’t assume this is correct.
Paying A Membership To Shop – Seriously? This is the biggest rip-off of all! Why should you pay someone a fee to shop at their site/store? Especially when there are sites that PAY YOU to shop at their stores! For example, Fetch Rewards is one, among many. So don’t make someone else richer; make YOURSELF richer!
MLM Marketing – Here we have a thinly veiled Ponzi scheme. The only difference between this and a regular Ponzi scheme is that there are product(s) to sell. The problem here is that the only way to make money is to get people to sign up under you. And this is difficult to do. Usually, the people who get in early make the money. And they are right at the top. The rest, underneath, don’t get much, if anything at all. (Amway was a BIG sensation back in the 1980’s. And everyone thought they were going to get rich. But when everyone and their “uncle” are in it, there’s no money to be made.)
Paid For Surfing/Viewing Sites – This was a popular con years ago, and I’m sure it will come back. (The SEC went after them and shut many of them down.) So, if you come across a site that offers to pay you a lot of money to surf/look at their ads. It’s a scam. These sites offer what is called an “ad pack.” To earn, you must purchase their ad pack. Then you use the ad pack to advertise your referral link or website. But you are also required to surf/look at a set number of their advertisements. And the earnings/interest they pay you is too high, as high as 24%. (Keep in mind, Banks don’t pay interest that high. So there’s a HUGE red flag there!) At first, it works great; you earn. But then it fails because there’s not enough money coming in. This, too, is another thinly veiled Ponzi scheme. And like herpes, I’m sure they won’t completely go away.
Any Easy, Quick-To-Get-Rich Schemes – There are only a few ways to make a lot of money fast. A BIG inheritance, winning the lottery, or the very few who strike it rich in business/investments. Anyone who claims otherwise is a liar. Getting rich fast is not easy. And the successful ones certainly didn’t give their hard-earned money to someone else, hoping it would happen. Think about it.
Some Pay-To-Click-On-Ads Sites – These sites pay you to click on their ads. And if you are lucky, it’s a penny; usually it’s a fraction of a penny. Many also offer you an upgrade. Which means you can purchase advertising for your referral link or website. And you earn more when you click on their ads. Hopefully, more than a penny. Many of these sites are legit; others are not. Usually, the ones that have been around for years are more likely to be legit. But do your research and don’t make assumptions. And if you decide to join any of these sites, here’s my recommendation. Don’t pay a lot of money if you plan to upgrade. This way, if the worst happens, you won’t be hurt so badly. Also, trust your instincts. Sadly, years ago, I didn’t trust mine, which I will explain below.
A MAJOR Dishonorable Mention – This site hasn’t existed for years (it was a paid-to-click ads site), but I’m still angry about it. And it’s because it’s personal. Revbucks or Revbuxs (SP?) was insulting and a rip-off! First, the worthless webmaster emailed me and said there was good news. So, that’s what I was expecting. Instead, I was told that I would take a financial loss. How is this good news? And this right there should have told me to get out. But I didn’t. Then, if that wasn’t bad enough. I get a negative “karma” rating, while the worthless webmaster gets a positive “karma” rating. All because I dared to speak my mind. (He wasn’t paying me.) And who shut down the site, took the money, and ran? You guessed it. The worthless webmaster! So, those who praised him while “dissing” me are nothing but a bunch of (BLEEP)ing IDIOTS!
